BATTLE TO SAVE
CAMARAND

Upon the discovery that Prince Blackpool had placed a twenty million force firecon somewhere in Castle Baaldorf, Prince Erik and his Vassal Marko left Camarand in search of the key which would turn off the instrument of destruction.

Their initial contact, informant Goz Dundar, proved to have the necessary information. The Prince and Marko left the Sword and Skull Tavern for the impenetrable Citadel. Along the way, a lightening hawk attacked the daring duo, who quickly took refuge in a cave.

Unbeknownst to our heroes, the cave was in fact a giant Brinker. In a flash of brilliance, Marko came up with a number of plans that would not get them out of the now closed cave and, as usual, Prince Erik saved the day by burning the roof of the Brinker’s mouth.  

Having been spat out, Prince Erik and Marko reached the Citadel. With only one guard at the entrance, the Prince and Vassal believed their task to be an easy one. That is, until the one guard proved to be a Klacton. Knowing that this half-man half-best was almost indestructible, Prince Erik tricked it and managed to lock it outside the Citadel

HER ROYAL HIGHNESS

A veritable ‘Who’s Who’ of Camarand turned up at Castle Baaldorf today in order to celebrate Princess Ariel’s birthday. After receiving 67 vases, Her Highness was notably agitated, and many of her well wishes went away with various aches and pains.

His Royal Highness, Prince Erik of Castle Greystone felt moved to gift Her Highness with a copy of the popular book, ‘The Joy of Being Single’ and a beautiful emerald bracelet.

An unknown admirer; tall, handsome and fashionably dressed gave the Princess a ticking golden unicorn, in the shape of a weathervane.

Our fair Princess was later devastated as many of her gifts were destroyed in the search for Prince Dirk Blackpool’s uncalled for gift of a ‘firecon’. Included in the destruction were some lovely leather pants from the groom and a set of exceptionally exquisite lace underwear. A castle guard was taken to the infirmary after an almost uncharacteristic outburst from the Princess.

Outside the castle, Princess Ariel was seen talking with the tall and handsome Rog. Not long after, it was realized that the young Princess was missing. This reporter is reliably informed that Princess Ariel left the Castle in the company of none other than Prince Geoffrey Blackpool!

Their Highnesses were later spotted at the Sword and Skull Tavern. After a narrow escape from an exceptionally tall barmaid (please see warning below), Princess Ariel made good her escape on her unicorn, Pumpkin. Having discovered the location of the ‘firecon’ from Prince Geoffrey, the Princess duly informed Prince Erik Greystone who put the information to good use (see lead story).

Health warning: do not mention her height to the barmaid at the Skull and Sword Tavern!

PRINCE DIRK BLACKPOOL VISITS CASTLE BAALDORF

In a surprise move, Prince Dirk Blackpool and his Wizard Vector visited Castle Baaldorf today.

Unexpectedly, Prince Blackpool declared, "We want peace."

King Edwin Baaldorf responded with surprise, only to have Prince Blackpool declare that he expected His Highness to surrender to him. The Wizard Vector went on to explain that a twenty million force ‘firecon’ had been planted somewhere in the castle.

The King’s Wizard, Traquill then appeared and explained that a firecon was the most destructive force in the world and assured His Majesty that all had been destroyed. The Wizard Vector refuted Traquill’s claim and both he and Prince Blackpool left the castle.

In a related event, Prince Geoffrey Blackpool has made off with the Princess Ariel (see article on Her Royal Highness).

SPORT

Wail Ball: With an overwhelming score of 15, Vassal Marco had appeared to win todays round at Castle Baaldorf. A last minute entry, Wizard Traquill, managed to beat the combined score of both Vassal Marco and Prince Erik Greystone. A great deal of money was lost in the betting circles and the Gambling Board is now discussing the possibility of banning Wizards from all competitve sports.

Arm Death: The Aperans sporting world was shocked today at the death of Arm Death champion, Percy. Percy, the undisputed leader of Arm Death, was knocked out of the competition by the Vassal Marco. Not known at the Sword and Skull Tavern, Vassal Marco took everyone by surprise by winning the tournament.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY

The Ashen Plateau peace treaty was signed.

STOP PRESS!

A large explosion was seen in the skies above the Isle of Zobo today. With few men available to make the trip and discover the source of the explosion, it is doubtful that an explanation will soon be discovered.

Fears are held for the peace loving nomads who inhabited the Isle. Due to the reasons stated above, a rescue mission will not be mounted. 'Besides, we've hardly got enough food for our own people', was Prince Blackpools only response when questioned.

OBITUARIES

The one-eyed criminal known as Goz Dundar went missing from the Sword and Skull Tavern today. An expert has surmised that a new skull-cup which appeared at the time, are his only remains. Wizardry may be the cause of death, regardless of the fact that it is well known that wizards cannot cause the death of mortals.

Percy, the current champion of Arm Death, lost his first round today (see Sports). His remains will chucked on the pile at the back of the Sword and Skull Tavern at noon tomorrow. The family has requested no flowers or spitting.
